CONDENSATION, DEW-POINT & RELATED TERMS :
Haze
Haze |
- This is caused by smoke and dust particles in industrial areas.
- It reduced visibility n regions of low humidity, less than 75%.
- When visibility is less than 5/4 miles, HAZE is present.
Mist
Mist |
- Mist is the term for reduction of visibility b/w 1-2 km, caused by condensation.
- Unlike Haze, mist occur in wet air, when the relative humidity is over 70%.
Fog
Fog |
- Ordinary Fog is formed due to water condensing on dust and other particles like smoke from houses and factories.
- The visibility in Fog is even less than 1 km.
- Fog is not considered as form of precipitation.
Smog
Smog |
- Smog = Smoke+fog
- It is a form of fog that occurs in areas where the air conatins a large amount of smoke.
- It may also reduce visibility.
Dew
Dew on a Plant |
- When the temprature of the air falls below the Dew Point, the water vapour present in it starts condensing and gets accumulated on the leaves of plants and trees & on the surface of ground in the form of small water droplets. It is called Dew.
- Dew is likely to occur on clear and calm nights.
NOTE↝ Dew Point-:It is the temprature at which the air is fully saturated and below which condensation normally occurs.
Frost
