RAIL TRANSPORT ➷

  • First Train was started by "Lord Dalhousie" on 16th April, 1853
  • B/W Bombay and Thane (34 Km) 
  • Indian railway was nationalised in 1950 
  • It is largest railway network in Asia and 2nd largest in the World 
  • 3 Types of railway line in india :
             (1) Broad Gauge [88,547 km]
             (2) Meter Gauge [16,489 km]
                     (3) Narrow Gauge [3450 km]
  • Total no. of railway zones is 16 and largest railway zone is    "North-Zone "  
  • India's longest route train is "Vivek Express". It run's b/w Dibrugarh (Assam) to Kanyakumari. Earlier, " Himsagar Express" has the longest route. 
  • India's fastest train is "Shatabdi Express". It run's b/w Delhi and Bhopal [150 kmph] 
  •  The Oldest Engine "Fairy-Queen" still runs on rails 
  • Uttar Pradesh has largest railway network in india followed by (2)Rajasthan (3)Maharashtra  & (4) Gujarat 
  • Names of Indian railway included in UNESCO's world heritage list :(1) Kalka-Shimla (2) Darjeeling-Siliguri & (3) Nilgiri railway 
  • First railway foundry was set-up at "Jabalpur, Bihar
  • First Locomotive built in India at Ajmer, Rajasthan is                    " Lady-Curzon "  
  • (CLW) Chittaranjan Locomotive works built first "Steam Engine-Deshbandhu"  
  • (CLW) made the first 1500 D.C. "Electric Locomotive Engine-Lokmanya

Konkan Railway ➽ b/w Roha(near mumabi) and Mangalore(Karnatka)

  • Its length is 760 km
  • It connects 4 states i.e. (a)Maharashtra (b)Goa (c)Karnatka (d)Kerala

Delhi Metro Rail Transit System ➽

  • It works under ministry of "Urban-Development"
  • It has built with the help of "Japan & South Korean" companies
  • Its model was taken from "Hong-Kong" & "Singapore"
  • Its current managing director is "Mangu Singh"

AIR TRANSPORT ➷

  • Air transport started in india in 1911
  • India's first airoplane post service was started b/w Allahabad & Naini
  • All the airways companies were Nationalised in 1953 and were put under two corporations namely : Indian Airlines & Air-India
NOTE-: Indian Airlines Head Quarter is located in New Delhi.
  • Now, Indian Airlines and Air-India have been merged and a new company named "National Aviation Company Of India Ltd. -NACIL"
NOTE-: Head-Quarter of NACIL is located in Mumabi.
